“Blackout. News” is an ongoing work that started in February 2022 with the question, “How can art help in times of crisis?”. It started as an artistic ritual that involved turning a newspaper article into a poem and also making a sketch each day. Hung side by side on a washing line they started to show a reality that is full of contradictions and challenges. The work invites the viewer to look closely and reflect on current and everyday issues with a sense of humour.

Participation

The work has been presented as a participatory project at the Artspace Bremerhaven 2022 for the first time, where visitors collaborated in the project by making poems and drawings themselves. “Blackout. News” aims to be inviting, activating and connecting.
